Visiting Mexico City won't be complete without going to one of its largest and most important squares. Here you'll find the City Hall and the Metropolitan Cathedral, home to amazing Hispanic art.

The enormous Zócalo thrums with activity. It hosts military parades, cultural and political events, concerts, exhibitions, fairs, and public art installations.

Look at the church. On the left side, there is a little fair. Go there. Amazing and good price craft art.

The Zocalo is the largest square in Latin America and the third largest in the world afterMoscow’s Red Square and Beijing's Tiananmen Square.

The Zócalo itself is impressive but the atmosphere is a circus and is not in anyway a depiction of Mexican life. Locals told me later that walking through it once is all you ever need to do. Move on.
